Applicants applying for programmes delivered in English are required to provide a document confirming their English language proficiency at CEFR level B2 or higher.
From 1 August 2025, the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 30 July 2025 on the types of documents confirming proficiency in the language of instruction of higher education programmes has been in force.
In accordance with the above-mentioned Regulation, the following documents confirming English language proficiency at CEFR levels B2, C1 or C2 are accepted for admission purposes at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University from 1 August 2025.
- International English language certificates
An English language certificate, diploma or other document confirming proficiency in all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) at CEFR level B2, C1 or C2, issued by one of the following institutions:
University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations
- B2 First (FCE)
- C1 Advanced (CAE)
- C2 Proficiency (CPE)
- B2 Business Vantage (BEC Vantage)
- C1 Business Higher
- Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System – Academic)

- Certificate of completion of a preparatory course for studying in Poland, lasting at least 9 months, confirming English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level in all four language skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing.
- A degree in English philology or applied linguistics, together with a diploma supplement or a certificate confirming that the total number of English language classes was at least 500 hours.
- A diploma confirming completion of first-cycle studies, with English as the language of instruction.
- An International Baccalaureate Diploma with English as the primary language.
- A European Baccalaureate Diploma with English as the first (L1) or second (L2) language.
- Proof of obtaining the right to practise as a sworn translator of English, issued by the Minister of Justice, referred to in Article 5(2) of the Act of 25 November 2004 on the profession of sworn translator.

If you do not have a document confirming English language proficiency at CEFR level B2 or higher, you can obtain the required certificate by taking one of the examinations organised by the Centre for Foreign Languages and Polish Language of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University.
The Centre offers two types of examinations recognised as proof of English language proficiency:
- LANGUAGECERT International ESOL – an international examination confirming English language proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- telc English – an international language examination confirming language competence in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), also available at B2 level.
Both certificates are recognised as documents confirming English language proficiency required during the admission process for programmes delivered in English.
