Why choose this field of study?

Spanish + an oriental language = a competitive edge on the job market.
If you want to master one of the most important global languages and, at the same time, learn an oriental language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic or Persian), choose Spanish Philology with an Oriental Language. This programme provides practical skills for work in international, multicultural and intercontinental environments.

Why choose this degree?

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, and oriental languages are gaining increasing importance in global trade, tourism, culture, and diplomacy. Combining both gives you a strong advantage in today’s competitive job market.

Spanish Philology with Additional Oriental Language – what will you gain?

  • Parallel instruction in your chosen oriental language – from beginner level
  • Knowledge of culture, society, and intercultural communication
  • Modern language learning methods – project-based, digital, and practical
  • Professional internships and the opportunity to implement your own project
  • A multilingual, international student community
  • Direct access to experienced academic staff and ongoing support
  • Proficiency in three foreign languages (Spanish, a selected oriental language, and a selected language as part of the language course offering)

What can you do after graduation?

Graduates of this degree can work as:

  • translators and language specialists (in companies, institutions, organisations),
  • teachers of Spanish or the selected oriental language,
  • employees in export firms, tourism agencies, publishing houses, or NGOs,
  • coordinators of international and intercultural projects.

This programme is perfect for you if:

  • you want to combine Spanish language learning with oriental studies and gain a unique language profile,
  • you’re passionate about diverse cultures and eager to grow in a multilingual environment,
  • you’re planning a career in sectors where intercultural skills are crucial: business, tourism, education, translation or international cooperation,
  • you’re looking for studies that offer practical skills and real opportunities in a globalised world.

New requirements for visa applications

Note: important information for bachelor’s degree candidates (first-cycle studies)

In line with the new requirements for visa applications introduced by Polish consulates around the world, candidates applying for a student visa are now required to submit a document confirming their eligibility to apply for a bachelor’s degree (first-cycle studies), issued by the Polish Education Superintendent Office (in Polish – Kuratorium Oświaty). Previously, this document could be provided after arrival in Poland, but under the new regulations, it must be submitted along with the visa application. The procedure for master’s degree candidates remains unchanged.

While the new requirement may slightly extend the visa process, the UAFM is fully prepared to support bachelor’s degree candidates throughout this period. To ensure there are no disruptions to their education, candidates who cannot arrive in Poland before the start of classes will be able to participate in lectures online via MS Teams.
